When you use BURST Connect, we collect the following types of data:

• Provide and personalize the BURST Connect experience
• Track your membership progress and tier status
• Send push notifications about events and announcements (with your consent)
• Enable event check-in via QR code scanning
• Maintain organization membership records

We do not: Sell your data, use it for advertising, or track you across other apps or websites.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using:

• Firebase Authentication: For secure login and account management (Google Cloud infrastructure)
• Cloud Firestore: For storing user profiles and event data (encrypted at rest)
• Google Sheets: For organization membership tracking (synced during registration)

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS) and stored with industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as follows:

• Active accounts: Data is retained while you maintain an active account
• Deleted accounts: All personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
• Attendance records: May be retained in anonymized form for organizational statistics

Third-Party Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Your data may be shared with:

• BURST Officers: For membership management and event coordination
• Google/Firebase: As our infrastructure and authentication provider
• Apple: For push notification delivery via APNs

All third parties are required to handle your data in accordance with this privacy policy.

Your Rights & Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: View your personal data within the app (Settings → Edit Profile)
• Update: Modify your profile information at any time
• Delete: Permanently delete your account and all data via Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account
• Revoke Consent: Disable push notifications in iOS Settings → BURST Connect → Notifications
• Data Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Consent & Opt-Out

By creating an account, you consent to this privacy policy. You may:

• Withdraw consent: Delete your account at any time to revoke consent
• Opt-out of notifications: Disable notifications in your device settings
• Request data deletion: Contact us or use the in-app deletion feature

Children's Privacy

BURST Connect is designed exclusively for Baylor University students and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
